Hi, my game feels way less smooth when im recording/streaming, fps is consistently running at 210-250.
Issue happended after moving my pc, i havent used it in two weeks and i wanted to go back to streaming, but instantly noticed overwatch feeling much worse to play.

log file: https://obsproject.com/logs/3la9ONhIAQWmCB5D

  • So far i have:
  • optimized cpu performance and cooling
    • cleaned my heatsink, applied new thermal paste and added 2 fans in the case. overclocked cpu, all cores stress test runs at 4.8ghz with max 90c temps, single core can continually run at 5.1ghz with no issues.
  • updated gpu drivers and chipset drivers.
  • tried running obs in safe mode
  • tried creating a new scene from the start, adding each source one by one and testing.
  • probably a lot of other stuff i forgot, but these are the most notable.

during gameplay neither cpu or gpu utilization reach 100%, temps are maxing out at 80 or so, nothing that should start throttling, not that limits are being reached anyways.

other settings worth mentioning (idk if it appears in the log but im typing it out to make sure) :
game capture has limit capture framerate on, i tried both, off feels worse.
capture cursor off
anti-cheat compatibility hook off
capture third party overlays off (i have none anyways but w/e)
hook rate normal

1. Audio buffering hit the maximum value. This can be an indicator of very high system load and may affect stream latency or cause individual audio sources to stop working. Keep an eye on CPU usage especially, and close unnecessary programs. Occasionally, this can be caused by incorrect device timestamps. Restart OBS as to reset buffering.
Source affected (potential cause): Desktop Audio
2. Run OBS as Admin
3. Make sure all 14 of your plugins are compatible with OBS 32.0.4 and are up-to-date.

If still happening, create a new profile, disable all the plugins, restart OBS, configure stream to connect (don't change any settings beyond that and don't ignore service bitrate limits) and create a new scene collection. Add 1 game capture source, nothing else (don't change any settings). restart OBS. Tools > Auto-Configuration Wizard > Optimize for streaming... > Once it's done, done, restart OBS and try with that setup.

If still happening, cap your games at 144 FPS/enable v-sync. You can't see 210-250 FPS on a 144 Hz screen. You may also want to consider setting your screen to 120 Hz and games to 120 FPS. Going from 120 FPS to 60 FPS is a lot easier than 144 or 210-250 FPS to 60 FPS.

You can also try disabling multipass, look-ahead and adaptive quantization as those use additional GPU.

If still happening, post new log.
