Question / Help In-Game Lag

Hello!
I am having some FPS Lag/Choppyness in CS:GO when I add my webcam to my stream. I currently have the Logitech C920 and running it at 1080p/30fps. I also reduced webcam to 720p/30 fps and same issue. While playing CS:GO normally I will run around 300 fps consistently and around 250 while streaming.....as soon as I add webcam into the mix it drops down to around 150 and is insanely choppy...150 fps would be fine as long as it was smooth but unfortunately this is unplayable because of the sluggish state.

I have tried reducing bitrate, change the preset to veryfast and quite a few other options with no solution. I honestly think it is a problem with the webcam eating CPU resources but I really don't think that should happen. If anyone has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

PC Specs:
  • Intel Core i7 4770K (OC to 4.6Ghz)
  • Corsaid H100i Liquid CPU Cooler
  • ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87 Mobo
  • Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3
  • ASUS GeForce GTX 770 OC 2GB
  • Corsair Force Series GS SSD (240GB)

Two things. Make sure you camera is a global source, using the output format i420.

Secondly, try and move around the camera on the USB slots to find one that works better. It could be fighting for bandwidth with another device. Shouldn't cause CPU usage, but can cause other issues.

Have tried all 8 USB ports and still same issue....damn this is annoying..I really wish I had another webcam to test with and see if I get the same issue.

Hmm, is only when its enabled? Or when its in the scene?

Could be a scene buffer time, whats that value?

Seems like it occurs as long as webcam is loaded into the scene. 400 ms scene buffer in advanced options

Thats enough scene buffer... Hmm check your webcam properties and post them here? (uncertain if log shows that)

Using USB 2.0. Tried removing each USB item 1 by 1 to see if any of them were hogging bandwidth and seem to have same issue.

Perhaps enable Vsync in CS:GO? Perhaps what you're seeing are micro stutters (a shot in the dark. ) If so, limiting the games FPS to the sync rate of your monitor could help.

I've been browsing the net trying all types of search terms(people with c920) trying to find the damn solution but can't seem to find it.

I greatly appreciate you guys' suggestions though.....if you happen to run into anything I'd be so grateful if you could share with me :)
