I'm trying to record GTA 5 in OBS the gameplay is smooth but playback really choppy. I have been trying and trying with no luck. Every setting i choose or change the playback is still choppy and it says encoder overloaded no matter what. I'm losing my mind, could you please help?
Also whenever i open OBS the game drops a lot of frames.

Are you running OBS and the Game on the same PC ?
That's a lot of work for a PC to do.
Put OBS on another PC with an HDMI capture device.

another easier way
reduce the gameload by activate Vsync (limit framerate to display showrate) or reduce settings

Sorry for the late reply, i tried turning on V-sync but still the same. And maybe i would try running OBS on another PC But that's the worst case scenario
