I'm stuck - cropping a VLC video without resolution loss.

I'm stuck. Attached is a screenshot of full-screen VLC video playback. The workflow I want to achieve is as follows:

• Play VLC at full screen
• With OBS take screenshot(s) of the VLC video without the left and right black areas without losing original video quality.

There ought to be a simple solution to this, however, it is not apparently simple to figure out.

The black bars are because your video is a different aspect ratio than your display. OBS cannot magically solve this. You'd be better-off just taking screenshots from VLC, and leaving OBS out of the process entirely.
