I was wondering if the 4790k alone can handle streaming at 720p 60 or 1080p at 30 alone or do you think I need a streaming pc?
-Thanks

A lot depends on what game you are planning on streaming, but the 4790k is quite a powerful CPU.

I have a 4770k and use the cpu graphics unit for streaming and recording. Thanks to Quick Sync that streaming and recording cost 0,0% performance anymore.

Er, well this is a complete outlier result. My 2600k @4.6Ghz can even handle 1080p60fps encoding (not that I'd stream that)

Are you streaming and playing the game on the same machine, or is the 2600k just your streaming box?

No, same machine, but I can only do that for games like Starcraft or League of Legends. Nearly every game (except like, BF4) can be done at 720p60fps on the same machine. Anyway, my point is that the 4790k is definitely more than capable of gaming + streaming on the same machine at 720p60fps or 1080p30fps.

I can tell you that i7 4770k non-oced can handle all releases from this year without FPS drops whatsoever at 720p60fps. I didnt try 1080p stream, but recordings on SSD are also good. So that cpu can do only better.

im streaming with i5-4670k at 720p 3500kb/s upload speed pretty much no problem, only got blue screen twice cos cpu overheated with bad overclocking, game that i was playing then was DayZ Standalone and it is pretty badly optimized currently as it is still alpha. otherways no problems at all so you should be pretty good to stream

I have an i7 4790k @ 4.6Ghz and I can confirm what Krazy has already said, it's a pretty powerful CPU. I had no problem streaming 720p@60 or 1080p@30 while gaming prior to setting up my second PC as a streaming machine. I didn't set up the second PC to stream because I had to. I just wanted to.

The Intel i7-4790k is a excellent CPU. I use that CPU myself in my computer.

I can stream Guild Wars 2 at 720p at 45 fps.
And i can stream Diablo 3 at 1080p at 45 fps.

I stream at 2000 kbit/sec, because the low bitrate i tweaked my stream a little to ask more power from the CPU.
Even with that my stream looks pretty and smooth :).

Ehh....my 4790k isn't overclocked at all, and I stream 1080p 60fps whilst gaming on max settings and maintaining 60fps+
CPU isn't even at 100% usage.

MFW I realised that the thread was inactive since 2014*facepalm*

Yeah I haven't overclocked my 4790k either (turned off the boost right after installing it too) and I've tested 1080p60fps at 6000kbps with World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm, Diablo 3, Overwatch and more, and 've had no problems playing/streaming on the same pc.

The only thing you should take into account is the bandwidth of your viewers because not everyone can play 6000kbps. 60fps is overkill anyway, no matter what you're streaming.
