Hey,

for example: I want to stream Diablo 3. My Monitor got a max resolution of 1920x1080

I want to stream in windowed mode. So, for example: I want to lower the ingame resolution to like 1280x1024 or stomething like that so that I can see my desktop in the background. If I do that, I can just put the Twitch Chat on the right side of my Desktop to monitor the chat while playing.

The problem is, that I got black annoying bars on the left and right side of the stream. I want to ged rid of them. Is there a way to do it? Just play with a lower resolution, keep the quality high (like 1080 or 720) and put the chat to the right?

You asked your question while most of us were asleep.

As for your question, it's because your game is no longer matching the aspect ratio of your stream. Simple run the game in a matching aspect ratio to solve the issue.

Er wait, yea, you can also fill that space by putting chat on the right, for example.

You need to configure your game to use a windowed resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio and then change your OBS base resolution to the same. 1600x900 or 1280x720 would work fine.

Still those black lines left and right. I'm getting frustrated.

For example: Civilization 5: I chose 1440x900 because I can place my chat window on my desktop to monitor it. In OBS I also put in 1440x900 but that doesn't help. if you watch the stream in fullscreen there are still those lines

You can fill the black areas with overlays, like your photo, avatar or chat. That's what I do on my streams when I play Project 64.
