Question / Help I need some help

I need some help because I am new to OBS. I just got it the other day and decided to start posting YouTube videos.
Whenever I try to test out OBS it works, but then, I try to open up the file to listen to the recording back to see if anything is a bit buggy and the file won't open and says I have to download something to hear the recording. I don't know what to do. I've looked up how to change ending of a file and nothing came up to fix this. I'm not a big computer geek so I have no idea whatsoever on how to relieve myself of this problem. It would be nice if someone were to help me out a bit.

1. Make sure you're using Studio and not classic.
2. If you're playing back a file created with OBS but there's no audio or there's no video, try using VLC instead - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
