I recently installed obs to record gameplay, problem is that the standard obs file is mkv and i didn' know that and i have no way to convert the files in mp4 because sony vegas pro 17 doesn't recognize mkv files. So yeh, now i have 6 hours of gameplay that i can't use. Thanks obs!

In OBS, go to the File menu, then Remux Recordings. You can remux them to MP4 from there. There's also a checkbox in the Settings menu to do it automatically after a recording has completed.

Never, EVER record to MP4 directly with OBS. If any error happens at all, the entire recording will become unusable digital garbage and unable to be recovered. Also, many video editors have significant problems with OBS direct-record MP4s, including Premiere and Vegas.

So you're welcome. The defaults are that way for a reason... to stop newbies from boning themselves.

I use VP17 as well. Download & install Avidemux. http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/

Here's something else, you won't believe how fast this encoder works with Vegas. https://www.voukoder.org/
