I have a problem with my obs audio

Whenever I open OBS (same applies to when I'm recording), I can't hear any audio from an app that clearly has audio playing. But if I make a recording the audio that I couldn't hear when OBS was on is in the recording but I couldn't hear it while I was actively recording or when OBS was open. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Did you set those track in the audio mixer (advanced audio tab) to "monitor+output"?
If its on "output" only (standard) you won't hear it thru the monitoring device.
