I have a problem using obs in general for anything

Whenever I load up obs most people see their usual desktop background I assume, but for me I have a black screen. I have searched all over youtube and reddit to find solutions to fix it and most say to use nvidia panel which works so I do. I go and they use the Open Broadcaster Software which is what you are supposed to do but whenever I try to do it, it will not show anything of that name and I cannot find it anywhere. On top of that whenever I try to record gameplay it has great audio and you can almost hear everything perfectly except it is still just a black screen. And while I do not know if the nvidia panel and my gameplay correlate at all but I'm not sure. Its just that I'm new to obs and have been searching everywhere for my problem and was unable to find a solution I haven't yet seen anyone else have this problem too. So if anyone could or will help me please do so because I want to start uploading clips and I'm unable to because of these problems and btw I am also using a gt 1030 which I know isn't good for obs it still works fine for me and I cant really upgrade at the moment. So please help me and give me a solution that I have been searching for.

I'm not sure whether you're struggling with the basic concepts of OBS Studio, but this is not correct. Initially it it empty and black. OBS lets you create scenes that consist of the source(s) you want to show to your audience. If you want to show a fullscreen video clip, you'd need a scene with a Media Source. If you want to show a PowerPoint with the presenter, you'd need a scene with a Window Capture source for the presentation and a Video Capture Device source for the webcam (that can be resized smaller and arranged to a position in a corner).

So if you want to show your game in the recordings, you have to add some source to capture that.

This screenshot, borrowed from the Wiki, has three scenes. The current scene, called Game, consists of two sources including a Game Capture source.

However, if you do have this covered and your black screen is caused by technical issues, please have a look at this forum's thread Laptop? Black screen when capturing? Read here first. which is pinned at the very top of the Windows Support forum.
