Question / Help I have a GTX 1070 and a i7 5820K should I be using NVENC or x264

For the past few months I have been streaming using x264, however for over some time all my streams aren't even reaching full 60 frames despite the main game reach over 100+

If I make the switch to NVENC will it make the difference and be able to get OBS over 60 or not?

For streaming, x264.

You're probably having problems relating to other settings if that system isn't getting good results.

Post your OBS session log and a screenshot of the first tab of gpu-z.

Okay I will try this, give me 10 minutes or so and I will report back to you, I did have my video card in the middle slot which I believe was slot 2 and that was giving me around 5 fps instead of the drops from 60-25 (OBS)

So it turns out I moved it to slot 4 just now by mistake instead of slot 1 like you asked, but it seemed to have fixed this issue?

and by slot 4 I mean moved it up closer to the cpu etc...

oh right okay, with the prntscrn I linked it shows on device manager that it is slot 4, either way... It did seem to fix this issue, I thought all pci slots give the same power....

I did also have a 4 hour conversation with a obs admin with the same issue I was having 2 or so weeks ago and none of us could figure it out! and it took you 5 minutes, I really do appreciate it a lot!
