I have a good pc and good internet but i can never quite get the stream to look right with slight lag issues.

I am streaming triple A games like overwatch, Destiny 2, and lately a lot of Battlefront 2.

I have tried x264 and Nvenc, CBR, I am streaming 720 60fps.

Not really sure what to do at this point because it seems like ive gone through a vast majority of all the settings and tinkered for weekends and felt like i achieved nothing.

Here are all my specs any suggestions?

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K 4.00 GHz

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming Video/Graphics Cards GV-N1070G1 GAMING-8GD

Motherboard: MSI Pro Solution Intel Z170A LGA 1151 DDR4 USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard

Hard Drive: WD Blue 1TB SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch Desktop Hard Drive

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB

Power Supply: EVGA Supernova G1 650W

Case: Zalman ATX Mid Tower Computer
Case ZM-Z9 NEO BLACK

if you try to stream destiny 2 with x264 with your 6700k You can forget that, the 6700K dosnt even have remotely enough power for that. i run a 6600K overclocked to 4.8GhZ and x264 is a stuttery mess. Try out Intels quicksync or Nvec since that dosnt use much cpu power. My 6600K is at 80-100% useage at times while playing destiny 2 so trying to stream with x264 is imposible.

edit: I stream destiny 2 with quicksync and its working really good in 720p60fps

@GreySha I suspect if you had that much trouble with the 6700K then you've misconfigured something, but I don't own Destiny 2 so I can't speak to its overall CPU usage and how much it leaves for OBS. We need to see a log file before making any suggestions.

well in my experience its very CPU intensive so i could stream find eif i spilt 2 cores for obs but then the game was unplayabel stuttery. thats just me experience when i used x264, quicksync is at last fine

edit: even though i use a 6600k, with the overclock i have just as much power as a 6700k, just no hyperthreading but that dosnt really help if the game is already draining 95% of the cpu power.

So youre saying that you also have trouble streaming with that processor? Maybe I just need to get an upgrade which is possible since I have Xmas bonus coming in

iam also upgrading, you could get a 7700k with a bios update, with that and quicksync you can stream destiny 2 probably in 1080p60fps but 720p60fps for sure without problems, iam not sure about x264 since destiny eats alot of cpu power and x264 also eats alot. iam opting for a 8700k but you need to get a new motherboard from the z370 line because yah intel i guess~ or a Ryzen 1700x or 1800x if you are more on a budget. you can keep DDR 4 ram doe.

If you're streaming to twitch, streaming in 1080p isn't viable anyway due to bitrate constraints.

if you want to continue it and be professional on some point it would not be bad to got a bit more power so that would be a option later on. As i learnd buying barely what is needed now only makes sense when you are on a budget. but in the long run you buy hardware more often when you go for the lower stuff.
