For my workflow I barely stream; and I have a music studio with a bunch of Logitech C922s pointed at each instrument. I have an ancient cheese grater Mac Pro, but it's last gen top spec'd and definitely still has life left.
When I'm recording a single plugged in webcam for one instrument, at 1080p, that's writing directly to my 2TB SSD, and that was where everything was fine since pre-covid until I made a pretty big mistake.
I have so many songs near completion, an was getting tired of my poor mangement of files, so I said I'll just put EVERY project in one directory, and go though them one by one.
As soon as I did that I made a huge change and didn't even think about it. Now everything I record in another very processor intensive program (probably way more than OBS) and now I have two programs performing continueous heavy CPU load, AND I'm writing not just one video file, but also seven different wav files (drunm kit).
I'm telling you this is the first time I've fully crashed a mac pro. And even though I have recording set to mkv, and I was playing for at least 3+ minutes before the ship sank, there was not a trace of the mkv video anywhere.
So now what I'm looking for is someone to help me get a little confidence back, maybe tell me it's gonna be okay. But seriously, if the log file is not enough info I have a few more - I'm looking for the optimal video settings sharing work with another large native program, and go right back to simple plug and play no issues. Like always.
Thanks to anyone willing to look into this one...
