I get a buzzy green screen when I set the resolution to 720p

hi, I have a 2020 iMac computer, running a dslr camera for my external picture, with a Blackmagic mini recorder. every time I try to put it to 720p it looses the camera image and goes to this green buzzy picture. I just want to be able to stream at a 720 resolution, not 960x540

please help!
