Question / Help I get a black screen no matter what way I try to capture.

I'm pretty new to OBS so I've tried to do some research.

Its a known problem that game capture will give a blackscreen, depending on the game etc. I'm just trying to record my whole screen with monitor capture or window capture (or any capture at all). But no matter what I try I get a black screen regardless.

I've went to my obs settings --> video and selected my nvidia graphics card.
I also went to the nvidia control panel and made sure obs uses the nvidia graphics card.
I tried using both 64 and 32 bit but the results are the same.

Nothing seems to work and everytime I click preview it shows a black screen. My webcam seems to be the only thing that it records just fine. How do I fix this problem?

Chrome 50 introduced problems with window capture that are solved by disabling acceleration in chrome.
Microsoft edge can only be captured by display/monitor capture (which requires OBS to be running on the intel GPU in a switchable graphics laptop.

With switchable graphics laptops like yours, display capture REQUIRES obs to run on the intel gpu. The settings required to do so are mutually exclusive to window and game capture working.

Okay it seems to work now, I'm still unsure how it works or what exactly changed, but atleast it works! Thanks a bunch Harold.
