I don't understand what's happening!

I guess the main problem is that OBS is causing things to run slow. It's really getting bad. Audio and video stuttering. Computer locks up and I'm not able to do anything at all or it takes an inordinately long amount of time for actions to complete. I've had to shut down the computer just to be able to close OBS because everything was locked, and had to do that to end the stream. Even when I ran OBS in safe mode.
My last streams have had audio and video out of synch and rapid skipping forward. Basically if OBS is streaming, my computer is struggling. I've always had a slight issue with CPU usage but I've never had problems to the degree I've had in the last couple of weeks. It has become impossible for me to stream. I left my vods up so anyone can see what's been happening. Someone has suggested that it might be a memory issue. I cleared signifcant file space on my hard drive so some things are running a lot better, but that hasn't had an effect on Today I tried a test stream. It went fine so I decided to stream. When I started to stream, the same problems came up. OBS actually crashed. I waited a bit then tried another test stream. Everything ran fine so I decided to continue streaming and no problems. Why does this seem to waffle off and on?

1. One of your audio devices has a sample rate that doesn't match the rest. This can result in audio drift over time or sound distortion. Check your audio devices in Windows settings (both Playback and Recording) and ensure the Default Format (under Advanced) is consistent. 48000 Hz is recommended.
OBS Sample Rate: 44100 Hz
Microphone (USB Audio CODEC ): 48000 Hz
[VIRTUAL_AUDIO_DEVICE_PROCESS_LOOPBACK]: 44100 Hz
2. You need limit your Scenes, Sources and Filters. You have about 30 scenes, 270 sources and 120 filters. Keep it simple. If you're not using all 30 scenes, you can create separate scene collections and switch to them when necessary. The log shows using NO GREEN BKG, DESK, PINK Scene, VertCam and START (possibly other scenes within those scenes).
3. The log is incomplete so I'm not sure if you're experiencing rendering lag, encoding overload, dropped frames or all 3. Ideally we need a log where you have started and stopped the stream (at least a 30 second stream reproducing the issues (besides the crash part)).

I have done an uninstall and reinstall since my last post so I will see how it plays out. In the meantime...I've corrected the sample rate issue. I don't actively use all the scenes. Some of them are designations for nested things that are used in the main broadcast scene which is Pink scene. How do I separate them and will they still work in the scenes I need them to if they are separated? I am eliminating some sources. They were there cues from when I had a stream deck and I dont have one anymore, so those should be easy to go. Filters? the only filter I know of is the vst filter for the mic. Where would I find the other filters?

The common/ recommended /in-app approach is to copy a Scene Collection, and then remove scenes as appropriate
There is the riskier method of manually copying and hand editing some config files... but not advised for a typical user
No, if you remove a Scene from a Scene Collection (let's call it #2), you can't call that Scene while using Scene Collection #1

So... yes, any scenes you'd use together need to stay in same Scene Collection
Of course, you can have a full copy of the Scene with a Scene Collection copy. the only downside is if you had a main scene, and edit it, those changes would have to be manually made in the other Scene Collections.

fastest/most thorough method - take a look through your OBS Studio log..

Hello. i'm facing almost the same problem. I have audio cracking and poping. So far i think that this is because my audio interfaces works on 192kHz and OBS supports only 48kHz. I looked over for vst plugins for downscaling sample rate, but found nothing. Tried voicemeeter, but it causes more difficulties and makes interaction with audio interface uncomfortable. Is there any other solutions except of choosing 48kHz for my interface?
Added: tried also CoreAudio AAC as it helped people with the same problems, but in my case nothing changed. Maybe i'm doing something wrong

actually no, it is a different problem than original post... just one small related audio sampling rate consideration

Yours is its own issue, and would best be addressed via its own thread, vs hijacking this thread for a different issue
When you post a new thread for your support request, help us all out by also indicating some details Physical and Operating System level Audio related settings, and routing. Including things like OS level audio drivers, filters/effects

Sorry, already have one thread, but no one answered it yet.

Audio buffering hit the maximum value. This is an indicator of very high system load, will affect stream latency, and may even cause individual audio sources to stop working. Keep an eye on CPU usage especially, and close background programs if needed. Occasionally, this can be caused by incorrect device timestamps. Restart OBS to reset buffering.
Source affected (potential cause): PS4

If that does not resolve the issue, create a new scene collection with one scene with game capture, video capture and your mic if separate from your cam. No more than 3 total sources. No filters. Does this still happen?

I have had the audio buffering warning issue pretty much most of the time and dont have the problems that occur in that video. What you see in the video is something that started happening within the last two months. All un necessary programs as far as I know of are closed
