The settings are not correct. For nVidia laptops, you have to select the first video adapter in your adapter list under OBS video settings, no matter what the actual option says. It's a weird quirk, and the laptop guide should have told you this. But changing that should fix it.

If you selected the top adapter in the adapter dropdown in OBS' video settings, and you still have this problem, you still do not have it set up correctly in nvidia control panel. Go to nvidia control panel, 3D settings, and then set OBS.exe (might have to do it for both 32bit and 64bit versions) to use the nvidia processor. Or, click the global tab in 3D settings, and set all programs to run on the nvidia.

According to that log, OBS is still running on the integrated GPU. Make sure that both the 32bit and 64bit version of OBS are set to use the nVidia GPU in your nVidia settings.

For the second session of that log, you selected the bottom adapter in OBS' video settings again. You shouldn't do that.

Where it says: "Loading up D3D10 on NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M (Adapter 2)..." I mean. That means the bottom adapter was selected. Have to avoid that and use nvidia control panel.

I've tested the two (integrated and nVidia) adapters, but still giving same problem

Then you still have it configured wrong. You need to:

a) Make sure that both the 32bit and 64bit versions of OBS.exe are running on the nVidia card in your nVidia Control Panel, and

b) Make sure the top video adapter in the dropdown in your OBS Video settings is selected, no matter what the label says.

If you are certain that you have done those, and it's still giving you a black screen, then post another log.

put the 32 and 64 bit, but still the same problem, black screen occurs in catching games, capture and monitor video capture devices are normal.

note: I have opened the OBS on 32 and 64 bit

Alright, you seem to be running OBS on the correct GPU, but make sure you go back to the Video settings and set the device at the top to be the first item in the list. It's kind of an annoying bug with nVidia devices, unfortunately.

Unfortunately it did not work :( but I appreciate the quick and helpful assistance, wait a nearby update, thanks

Well, the good news is that the next release of OBS should make this easier for people who are having trouble figuring it out.

I'll make a test build for it soon, it'll be 0.60 test 8. It'll make a workaround for the nvidia laptop issue and allow you to select the GPU in OBS itself without all the BS.
