HRWS - Real-Time Bluetooth LE Heart Rate Monitor for OBS Studio WebSocket

HRWS is a lightweight tool that connects to any Bluetooth LE heart-rate device (chest straps, smartwatches, etc.) and streams your BPM over WebSocket into OBS Studio. Everything runs locally on your network — no internet or cloud services required.

Key Features

  • Local-only connections: your data stays on your LAN

Is it possible to change the font of the HR? If not, add a new feature to have an option to write the HR to a text file and then it can be displayed in OBS from that and that would allow for font change. Currently I am using pulsoid for HR with a coospo chest rig. I do really like having as much local resources as possible on my stream PC instead of relying on internet resources. GG's on this!

Thank you for your input! If you choose to the "websocket" way which HRWS also supports, you are free to style your textsource within OBS. To set it up you can follow the instructions within HRWS under the help menu. In addition to this way there are animated templates which are integrated into OBS with a websource, also described in the help menu. Perhaps I did misunderstand what you mean, if so please tell me more about what exactly you mean :)

Hi Andy,

Is there an android app that works with HRWS that I can install on my phone or tablet? The current android app you posted on the the HRWS site is on compatible with WearOS. I have a samsung S23 phone and S7 tablet I would like to use HRWS with.

Hi S33V33

HRWS expects data from a heart rate sensor (Apple Watch / WearOS with the mentioned apps or any bluetooth heart rate trackers e.g. Garmin, Polar etc.). Perhaps I misunderstood your question about what exactly you want to achieve?

Ahhhh OK. Sorry for the confusion. I currently use pulsoid but I really like not having to rely on cloud stuff. With their setup I have to use an android app to send my chest strap data to their servers so in my head I thought that's how yours worked but on my local network.

Oh now I understand what you meant. Yes the goal was to build an easy to use and local-only appraoch where just the application and a heart rate tracker device is involved. Let me know if there are any problems in combination with your chest strap.
