Recently, I've been trying to find ways to get the file input working. I've been doing it on my own for a bit, but still couldn't find out how. Went on youtube to find out, but they just show steps of what each of the setting requirements have. So I was just wondering if I need to get a media player to use the file input.

It could be helpful if you tell us what you are planning to do exactly. File input is a very vague description.
For example to playback a video you just need the correct plugin. Or to do a local recording instead of streaming, you just select File Output instead of Livestream under Settings -> Broadcast Settings.
So please explain what you are trying to do and we will be able to help!
