How to switch cams in a scene? Basic question - beginner

New to OBS. Have watched a number of instruction videos. Haven't made a video yet. Only interested in recording video for use in demo type instruction - no streaming, for now. How do I switch cameras during a recording? I have a scene set up with 2 cameras and one lapel mic. Is there a "switch cam" shortcut key for this one scene I've made? Or do I need to have another scene and switch to that? ( Doesn't seem right...) I set all the parameters for cams and audio. I have shortcut keys set for a number of things like start/stop, transition, mute/unmute etc. Many thanks for this really basic help.

Why doesn't switching scenes seem right? The whole idea of scenes is that they consist of the thing(s) you want to show at a time. Fullscreen camera... is a scene. Fullscreen PowerPoint presentation with a tiny picture-in-picture camera at the corner... is another scene. Two camera's side by side with two people in discussion (maybe with a fancy border and background)... is yet another scene. OBS Studio provides various scene transitions.

Of course you can modify scenes by showing and hiding specific sources, ie. the lower thirds with your name that appear over the fullscreen camera once at the beginning of your video.

Many thanks for this - I'll give this a try. Very much appreciated. I'll need to switch back and forth -scene to scene. Sounds OK. So I don't need 2 cams in one scene. got it.

If you want to switch back and forth between two cameras, create two scenes for this. If you have other sources common to both scenes, create a group and put these common sources into the group. Then copy and paste (by reference) this group to the other scene. If you reference the group, changes to the components of that group you make in one scene will be reflected immediately in the other scene.

Excellent - thank you very much.
