Question / Help How to Stream from an outdoor IP Cam?

If I ran a computer inside my place 24/7, Running OBS, could I relay the video from an IP Cam?

Like from https://smile.amazon.com/Hentek-Wireless-Real-Time-Surveillance-Camera-HK-PR002S/dp/B018K7OLLS/

These outdoor cams have smart phone apps that allow you to watch the video in real time. How can I get that video to YouTube live?

What if the camera were not at my place but across town?

Can I have more than one outdoor camera set up as sources and switch them at my computer?

Many thanks,
Kathy

I just tried this, adding a Grandstream GXV3672 security camera that's on the other side of my house.

Used the following URL, which I copied from a vMix scene.

rtsp://192.168.10.222:554

In my case that URL delivers the full resolution stream from the camera.

rtsp://192.168.10.222:554/2

Fetches a reduced resolution stream from the camera.

Of course, the camera is on my local network, so the 192.x.x.x address works for me. Your camera would need a public IP.

Hi Dan, can you check that link? It's not working.
I'm having trouble when the camera goes offline for any reason, OBS doesn't automatically try to reconnect.
Thanks

You got me thinking - I'm in Portugal.
So I tried to access the link with a US proxy and it opens fine now :)

Unfortunately this article doesn't address the possibility of a RTSP connection drop.
Thanks anyway... :)

After several days of frustrating pain, here is how I was able to live stream my IP camera to YouTube Live using OBS.

You can find step by step instructions that worked for me:

Greetings Dan,
I would very much like to follow your instructions ... but the link reports, "Sorry, your request cannot be accepted" ... can you repost the link or at least supply the info again please ??? Many thanks

Just add this to the search on the Dan Lewis Report site and it will get you to the article mentioned above:
Windows 10, Broadcast your IP Camera Live Stream to YouTube

Awesome, thanks. I used the rtsp address above (except I used my network) and it's working great with a PTZ IP camera.
