I am trying to stream at 16:9 aspect ratio because I feel the standard is 16:9.
By streaming at 16:9 ratio, people with 16:9 monitors will not see any black borders around the video.
I think 'majority' of people use 16:9 resolution monitor, so by doing this, I will be able to eliminate black borders for 'many' people. (Or am I completely wrong?)
Some common 16:9 ratios are:
1280 × 720
1600 x 900
1920 × 1080
However, my monitor resolution is 1280 x 1024 which has aspect ratio of 5:4. I was thinking of changing the video size to 1280 x 720, but people did not recommended me resizing the video as it will distort the video aspect ratio and reduce quality.
So I was wondering if it will be possible to stream at 16:9 by finding a wallpaper/image that has 16:9 resolution. Then put my video on the wallpaper. i.e. get 1920 x 1080 wallpaper and put my 1280 x 1024 video on the wallpaper.
But then another question is, should I not do resolution downscale and just put original 1280 x 1024 video on 1920 x 1080 wallpaper?
OR
should I do resolution downscale for my 1280 x 1024 video and put it on smaller 16:9 wallpaper?
i.e. 960 x 768 video on 1280 x 720 wallpaper
OR
does resolution downscale not matter if I have CPU power?...
