Question / Help How to recover a recording after unexpected shutdown?

Hello everyone,

I was recording a game using OBS when my computer suddenly shut down. Once I restarted, I found that my recording was still on file, but now cannot be open under the following text.

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

Is there any way I can recover the recording?

I would definitely recommend to test the file in VLC Media Player as it supports a lot more video formats. But if the file was saved in mp4 format and wasnt closed properly there is not much you can do to my knowledge.
By default OBS records in flv format which is pretty much crash resistant and can be converted to mp4 for editing with no quality loss.
