Question / Help How to record only selected portion of my desktop?

Is there a way to tell OBS "I only want this portion of the screen to be recorded"?
How many ways can you do this - do you use Capture Screen or Browser (in OBS)?
Example lets say I wanted to avoid capturing my Windows taskbar.

You want something that is called cropping. You can crop any source by press and hold the ALT key and move the handles at the edges of the source in the preview inwards. Cropped borders turn green.

Koala is right! and you can also record the selective portion through different software like BandiCam or some other software which can allow you to record the portion of the screen. I am familiar with BandiCam because it is more easy to use and when I do some home assignment I usually use this app for recording.

Is there a lot of nuisance ads or junk apps that come with Bandicam? Does Bandicam have a forum too? Max recording screen time? What happens after the trial period to Bandicam video's? Thank you
