I used to play and record in 1920x1080 16:10 but since I switched my in-game resolution to 1024x768 4:3 my recordings have a big black border around them. I tried changing my base resolution to 1024x768 but that zooms in my recordings to the top left corner of the game. Please help and thank you.

1920x1080 is a 16:9 ratio, not 16:10. Are you sure your recordings have black borders, or is it just in the player? Because it would be expected and normal for there to be black borders on the sides of a 4:3 playback on a 16:9 screen.
An OBS log file would be helpful for us to see what you actually have set up.
