Hey guys, so my stream feels extremely compressed while I stream my gameplay. Currently I am using a 3440x1440p monitor to play on and was wondering how to properly downscale from 3440x1440p to prevent compression. If its not possible, how should I go about getting a more natural look when streaming.

This resolution is a widescreen 21,5x9 aspect ratio. On the other hand, the usual aspect ratio of all streaming services, as well as the aspect ratio of the monitors of almost all viewers is 16x9. It's important to make your original game resolution a 16x9 ratio.

If you don't do this, you convert one aspect ratio to a different aspect ratio by adding black bars or by chopping off some pixels. In your case, it seems you added black bars. You might as well chop off some pixels to the right and to the left. For your vertical resolution of 1440, the 16x9 resolution is 2560x1440. Chop off 440 pixels to the left and 440 pixels to the right to get this resolution. Currently, you seem to have added black bars to the top and bottom and scaled the whole thing down, and this looks squeezed.

The best thing to do is starting your game with a resolution of 2560x1440 in the first place, so you neither have to chop off anything nor add black bars.

So I have an issue with conforming a 2560x1440 game to an obs base canvas. Everytime I do I cant seem to properly fit the game into the actual obs. Should I be running these games at 2560x1440 fullscreen, windowed, or borderless?

This is completely irrelevant, as long as the resolution the game renders its frames is 2560x1440 (or some other 16x9 aspect ratio resolution).
