Hello,

Started using OBS today and got everything setup nicely.

However I seem to be unable to get the 720P setting. I can only get 768+ or 614+ setting when I stream.

Could someone help me in the right way?

I am going to assume you're using the downscale function to try and get to 720p. Downscale literally scales the input down by a certain percentage. What this means, amongst other things is that the original resolution of whatever you're capturing must be in the same aspect ratio as 720p is (16:9).

What are you trying to capture and in what resolution are you playing that?

Sorry for the double post but let me give you some more info

Im playing a game called path of exile, im playing in a resolution (windowed) of 1024x600

Now I get the following options in OBS:
- None (1366x768)
- 1.25 (1092x614)
- 1.50 (910x512)

When I select None I the stream resolution is 728+. If I select 1.25 the stream resolutin is 614+. I notice a difference in quality with the 768 to 614 but not a performance boost on my end.

Does this mean I need to change the resolution of the game to actually get 720+? If so, what would that resolution be to get the best results?

Only have 1 monitor. If I were to play at that resolution I wouldnt be able to see the twitch chat anymore :/

So, run it at 1280x720 then, windowed. The exact resolution you want to stream in. It would be windowed so all you would need to do is alt-tab to see the chat. You could tuck it in a corner to see if there are new messages and then quickly tab do it to see those messages.

I could try that yes, will do as well.

Also is there an option the get a chatoverlay over the game? Not for the stream to see but just for me? Then alt+tab wouldnt even be nescessary.

Yes. As the Twitch.TV chat is actually simply an IRC chat you could try installing an IRC client with an overlay function. I believe there is a plugin for mIRC that will allow it to overlay.
