Question / Help How to fix/sync feedback from speakers through the mic

Hi,

TLDR: Is there some feature that will automatically sync your microphone sounds and you desktop sound so you dont get any feedback from your speakers that go through your mic?

I have been streaming with OBS for more than a year now. I have been fighting my microphone feedback problem, and haven't had much success.

I cannot use headphones because I have sensitive ears. I pretty much have to use speakers. The microphone I use is from a headset that I just put around my neck (I don't actually use the headset itself, I just use the microphone on it).

Basically, all sound works fine. The problem is though, the sound that I hear goes from my speakers and through my microphone as well. But it takes time for that sound and data to go through, and so it "echoes". I looked at the delay, and it seems to be between 80 and 90 milliseconds.

I am using default settings currently. However, I have tried these techniques before:

- I have tried Mic QPC Stamps, but that feature cuts off my mic and forces me to restart my stream every few hours.

- I have tried increasing scene buffering time, but it did not do anything.

- I also tried offsetting my sounds and "manually tuning it". My microphone "delay" during testing was 85 milliseconds. I set "Mic Time Offset" to negative 85. It synced my sound properly for the day. However, that delay value changes every time i restart my computer (Right now its at 89 milliseconds). So for this to work, I have to manually tune it every time I want to stream.

Is there some feature that will automatically sync your microphone sounds and you desktop sound so you dont get any feedback from your speakers that go through your mic?

To be more exact: there are 2 ways of removing the feedback. You can filter it out (like skype does), or you can sync it so they would both play the sound at the same time. I know that there is no filtering on OBS, but I am wondering if there is some syncing tool available.

Thanks for your time!

You should check your mic / sound card options for acoustic echo cancellation, that's a better solution than trying to sync up the audio (which will still sound bad).
