Question / Help How to Enable Compatibility Mode in Windows 8?

I am using a laptop and I get a black screen, though I've read the post about it. I use Nvidia for games but intel for the desktop, and I switch between them frequently. The option for Compatibility mode is grayed out, I read because tere is no Aero in windows 8. Is there another fix I could try?

Window capture has compatibility mode, monitor capture does not in Windows 8.
And there is Aero in windows 8, there just aren't aero themes anymore and aero is always on and cannot be turned off.
