Question / Help How to delay the game capture?

Hi, I'm trying to stream using a video and game capture, but the video capture is about half a second behind the game capture. Is there any way I can delay the game capture by half a second so it's in sync with my video capture? I can't find any option for buffering in the game capture, only for the video capture (but that won't help me in this situation :P).

It's not a webcam exactly, it's a camcorder plugged in via firewire. When I have the video capture and game capture set up in the same stream, they're out of sync since the video capture is a little late. If I could delay the game capture by half a second it would look fine, but I don't know how to do so because it seems like I can only buffer the video capture but not the game capture.

There's no way to delay a Game or Video capture in OBS. You should look into why there's such a big delay when bringing in video from the camcorder, or get a proper webcam.

It's not a big delay, and even my friends with webcams have this same problem, but they don't really care about it. I don't understand why you can't just set a buffer on the game capture like on the video capture. The game capture is practically instantaneous so of course most cameras would lag behind...

Feel free to suggest this in the Feedback and Suggestions forum (though I think it has been requested before). I was just telling you what is and isn't possible with OBS at the moment.

Technically, a buffer isn't a delay, though it has the effect of delaying the output.

Using an Elgato or Hauppauge capture device to record your PC gameplay can create about a 1 second delay.

Hope this helps. (2 years later)
