Unfortunately now I try recording and get a black screen - within the app, the screen is also black. I'm assuming that's a preview - how do I make the app actually pick up my screen? I tried recording and got 3 minutes of a black screen. Thanks for telling me to change the output though, that part worked.
 
In order to use display capture on a switchable graphics laptop like yours, you MUST set obs to run on the integrated graphics instead of the nvidia.
