You can capture a portion of your screen with Window capture or Monitor capture (though Monitor capture is not recommended on Windows 7 and below). Make sure you enable CFR in Advanced settings, too, to make sure it is most compatible with video editors.

Sorry to hijack thread, but monitor capture is GOOD on windows 8 since we can't disable aero?

Yes, Monitor capture is very good and fast on Windows 8.
