How do I add cameras from my partners' laptops?

Hi, we are trying to video broadcast live the three of us having a conversation. How do I access the webcams of my partners laptops and add them as a source?

The best way to grab your partners' feeds is by using Skype. They can use the standard version, you (as the streamer) will need to use the special Skype for Creators edition, which provides NDI feeds for each person in the call.

After that's working, you'll need to set up the obs-ndi plugin with the appropriate Newtek NDI redistributable package (the version is listed in the install instructions for obs-ndi). Then you can add each of your partners' video feeds as an NDI Source in OBS, for compositing/arrangement/filter-adjustment as needed, giving you individual control.

For output, if you plan to use a webcam-oriented medium like Zoom/Google Hangouts/Facebook Messenger (which OBS is NOT designed for use with) you can install the obs-virtualcam output plugin and use it to feed your combined stream out on your chosen platform. If you use something like Twitch, YouTube Streaming, or Facebook Live, OBS can send an RTMP video stream instead and the obs-virtualcam plugin will not be needed.
