All my problems with OBS trace to one fact. That OBS uses the "USB Name" to differential identically named cameras.
At the same time Apple relies on the fact that all cameras are smart cameras that have software that could rename cameras.
Apparently my sq-11s don't have software.
Why not get a different camera because I'm trying to do stereoscopy and that is the only camera I could find that I could put two of them within 2 inches of each other center of pupil to center of pupil that's within my budget.
Going through the Apple menus I noticed something... Away you could differentiate between devices with the same name. It's called the location ID.
Enclosed are some screenshots of three of my four cameras that were identified by Location ID...
Also I noticed that if you are able to differentiate them by location ID then you could give them a special unique OBS name which lines up with a specific location ID.
In the Old Mac OS when I had 12 cameras they're differentiated by different numbers in the USB name. Maybe the OBS name could differentiate them by location ID.
Dang this help server doesn't like large pictures and I don't know how to reduce the picture size so just trust me it's a feature on Mac OS where if you go to system settings then General then about this Mac and then you scroll down to system reports you'll see the various plugins of the Macintosh click USB to get the USB trees and you'll see that each USB camera has a unique location ID.
If OBS could somehow access them in the generic, yet differentiate them in the specific, then that's your key to fixing all these Apple bugs is by using location ID to differentiate multiple items of the same name.
Just thought I could be useful when I noticed this.
