I want to implement a way for chat to submit requests to me. They are just a text string, and I need the bot to copy them to a text file that I can display on screen. Suggestions on how to accomplish this?

If you have a bot that writes to a textfile, you can set up a text source in OBS, and have it monitor the file that your bot writes to and update on changes for on-stream display.
Configuring your bot to do this is beyond the scope of the OBS forums though.
