Question / Help Hotkeys only change scenes on preview, not on output ?

Hello, friends,

I created a scene for every camera, and defined hotkeys for change to that scene. The problem is that when I'm broadcasting, pressing these hotkeys changes only on the preview screen, not on the output screen, so I have to click on the transition button in order to apply. What am I making wrong ?

Thanks in advance.

To directly switch, use the normal preview mode instead of studio mode: click on the "Studio mode" button. In this mode every scene switch is visible immediately in the stream, as well as any source edits you do in the the current scene. The purpose of Studio mode is to make any switch or manual scene changes hidden from the stream, then make it live by clicking the transition button. If you don't need this, you don't need studio mode.

Thank you, Koala. I've been so used to the studio mode that I even forgot we have this another option. Thank you for the nice explanation. You're one of the most useful users of this forum, always helping people about their doubts explaining so kindly every time, even to the most silly questions, like mines.

Thank you for your kind words. But be assured, I'm not answering the most silly questions - there are other regulars like Narcogen or Harold that have much more patience than I. And actually, there are no silly questions. Only people who did not research enough on their own to find the answer themselves.

I am having the same problem now. But here's the kicker I was always using studio mode and I use a stream deck to hotkey switch. All of a sudden it just stopped working this way after always working in studio mode.
Turning studio mode off did fix it but again for the longest time I always had studio mode on as I have several scenes I use so I could then verify on preview my scenes were correct before switching over to it.
Believe this issue started soon as I started using VR again, any ideas?

Addendum: Found the issue it was streamdeck's OBS plugin some reason its settings got reverted back to "studio mode: preview" upon switching it back to "program". I got my scene transitioning back while in 'studio mode'.

I love this software and all of the people whose blood, sweat, and tears have gone into it so that I can use it for free but, with all due respect, this feature sucks big time. I use studio mode ALL of the time, because it lets me see what shot I'll be transitioning to before I do the transition, and source transitions were something I was truly excited about until I found out that I can only use it in Program mode. It would be really great if it was available in Studio mode too. All other hotkeys work that way. Why not this? Again, I'm really grateful, but this is just bad and I don't understand why it works this way. What possible use is there for the preview only to have source transitions? It will literally NEVER need them.

Here’s a trick: assign one shortcut for your scene switch and another for your transition. Hit both back-to-back, or if pressing two keys feels like a pain, use something like AHK to create a macro that triggers both with one press. If transitions don’t matter, just disable Studio Mode, and your scene switch hotkeys will go straight to Program.
