Hotkeys no longer work if shared across multiple actions?

This has been an issue for a long time now and I'm only just now thinking to post about it. Numerous updates ago, a shitload of my hotkeys suddenly no longer worked. It appears that the reason for this is that the functionality of hotkeys was arbitrarily changed to no longer allow you to put multiple functions on a single key combination. Assumedly there's some greater purpose behind this change, so since I'm guessing allowing this again is off the table, is there any way to work around this? I am a variety streamer and I have so many different windows and sources that I would have to write a book in order to keep track of how many unique hotkey combinations I'd need in order to toggle them all.

In both v25 and v29, I can assign the same hotkey to mute one audio source and unmute another. Do that with two keys, in opposite directions, and I have a handy selection of just one or the other source. I use it to select mono or stereo to the headphones so I can see if my mix works both ways. This is on Linux, but I'm pretty sure it's the same code regardless.

But if you really must have exclusive hotkeys, you can use the Advanced Scene Switcher plugin. It does far more than just that; more like a trigger-anything-from-anything automation hub, that might end up reducing your book of hotkeys to just a handful of notes.

To stick with your example, you would create a macro in Adv. SS, that has a Hotkey condition, and then does everything that you want that hotkey to do. Then in OBS's settings, register the physical hotkey with that macro.
