Question / Help Hotkeys no longer operational while recording

Hello, I have been using OBS for a few months now. Though it has worked in the past, I suddenly can't use the hotkeys to mute or unmute my mic while recording my gameplay. Does anyone know what could have caused this?

Note: I've tried a few things, and I found that none of the hotkeys work while I'm in the game.
