Question / Help Hotkeys don't work when OBS Studio doesn't have focus

My tentative fix to this is to run OBS as admin - I think the fact that I was running both Steam and the game I was trying to capture, Black Desert, as admin might've precluded me from capturing keypresses correctly with them active.

I have tested this by opening OBS regularly, tabbing into Steam, and trying to use PTT. No dice. When I run OBS as elevated PTT works when tabbed into a Steam window. Not sure if anything can be done about this, but I'll leave this thread in case anyone else comes with the same problem.

no, i tried it. but my problem is i turn PTT to V and it records my webcam's audio even when i'm not holding the button. i haven't tried it on a different microphone, but i wouldn't need it if i had my headset plugged in
There is an option under the Audio tab where you have to check a box to enable PTT for Mic/Aux. If you don't have this checked then your PTT isn't affecting any audio channels, hence why your audio is constant.

I have the same problem, when OBS is out of focus my hotkeys doesnt work. Except the admin-trick does not seem to work for me.

What ive tried so far:
Uninstalling and reinstalling
Run as admin

Any ideas?

Edit: Using win10, if that matters.

I have also see if a program other than OBS is running as Admin either manually or set in the compatibility tab of the shortcut the focus is not the same security context. So i assume If you have anything running As Admin then all need to be run as Admin. In my case I disabled Easy Worship to run as non admin and it worked as expected. A good test is to run notepad and type your hotkeys to see if they are working. I think it comes down to permissions and profiles.

For what it's worth if anyone else finds this thread related to this problem. The only way I could resolve this was to have everything that interacts running as admin. I run MSFS, OBS and JoyToKey as admin. Not a great solution due to the security implications of running third-party software as admin in Windows but it's the only way I could get things to work regardless of whether OBS is in or out of focus.
