Question / Help Hotkeys as external hardware (G19 keyboard, N52te) not worki

I didnt see anything specific on the forums about it, but has anyone been able to get their Logitech gaming keyboards (G15 or G19) configured so the G keys act as multi-button presses (CTRL+1, CTRL+ALT+1, etc) for use with OBS scene hotkeys?

I have tried both the 32 and 64 bit versions of OBS, have the latest drivers for both my G19 and my Belkin n52te gaming keypad, but none of them seem to properly send macro/key-strokes to OBS.

XSplit works perfectly fine, as does games themselves and Windows 7, its just that OBS doesnt seem to recognize them.

Adding to this, i also notice that I cannot get apps like Bomes MIDI Translator to work in converting MIDI commands into keystroke combinations that OBS will make use of. (Bomes combined with TouchOSC to turn my iPhone or iPad into a wifi+midi remote control)

Does OBS simply look for physical keystrokes, and not for ones generated by external programs?


EDIT: More and more strange. I did a test where I set up the keystroke combination "CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + 1" in the Logitech Gaming Software control panel, bound that to G1. I then went into OBS, selected "Set Hotkey" for one of the scenes. I cleared out the entry field, put focus on that field then pressed the G1 key. Instantly, the field read "CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + 1". So I KNOW that OBS recognizes it there. However, it still does NOT change the scene in OBS when I press G1 any other time.

I've just tested it with my G19 and can confirm the problem. However you can easily work around this by using a makro instead of (what they call) a "key stroke". just set a delay of 1ms between each button and it works just fine.

It currently is just set up for whatever windows uses for virtual keys and mouse buttons. I'd have to get one of those devices to know for sure what's going on, might just be a potential limitation in my hotkey code tat I'll have to fix in the future.

I've had this happen in a number of programs both with my n52te and Naga; doesn't appear to be limited to OBS, but however they send the meta-combo. Weird part is that it doesn't appear to be 'missing' the meta-key; a good example is in League, a quick-combo to joke/taunt/dance/laugh is CTRL+1/2/3/4. However, the 1/2/3/4 keys are bound to your item slots. Using a 'key' assignment of CTRL+1 doesn't use the item in slot 1, but also doesn't set off the joke.

Again, I'm just assuming that it's a difference on the n52/Naga software's end, if there's an alternate keycode for that specific key(combo)press, while League may be watching for a CTRL key-down followed by a number key-down code without a CTRL key-up to be active .
