Question / Help Horrific performance drop in games, not sure why.

Whenever I stream I have pretty bad perfomance drop in terms of framerate in pretty much all the games I'm streaming. I tried streaming DOTA 2, league of legends, world of tanks, and some other games of similar graphic intensity. The low framerate is constant, as soon as stream starts, the frame rate drops to around 10 to 25, graphic setting used in game has almost no effect to increase the framerate (lowest setting increase it about 5 or 10 tops).

here's my computer spec:

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
Memory: 24576MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
LOG for last time I streamed a good chunk of time:

I don't use aero. I run games at 1920x 1200 resolution, in window mode. Ping is great, only the game's framerate is low.

Friends I know with much lesser specs can stream well in 720 or 1080p with little framerate deficits. For me, even if I stream with really low quality (4 or 5), framerate in game still drop harshly. I tested my upload bandwidth and set the bitrate accordingly. I tried lowering game settings, even at lowest setting framerate only improved about 5 to 10 while streaming. And I tried twink CPU usuage and render quality, nothing changed the perfomance issue.

Can someone shed some light on this mystery?

Don't use the preset Medium...I have no idea why people still change it even though it says it can cause negative stream performance. As a rule always stick to Very Fast unless you know what you are doing.

Yes, the medium preset will majorly consume your CPU. Use veryfast unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Also, I see you are using 2 Monitor Captures and 1 Window Capture. Those two don't really mix very well...Monitor capture works best with Aero disabled, and Window capture works best with Aero enabled. I see that Aero is disabled, so your Window capture might be making things perform poorly as well.

Have you tried using Game Capture to capture the game? It works the best out of all the options.

Game capture works better, I changed to fast and down scaled resolution half of native resolution. Now it a bit better.

Even the fast preset takes a pretty big toll on your CPU . If you're satisfied with your performance, fine, but I still recommend veryfast.
