Question / Help High GPU usage just by having OBS open

Hello!

I'm posting this because I'm unsure whether this is a bug or intended behavior, but as the title says my GPU usage jumps to 3D load levels just by having OBS open and not even recording. The higher I set my "output (scaled) resolution" to in the "Video" tab, the higher the GPU load goes up to, this also applies to the downscale filter settings. So if I set the output resolution to 3840x2160, it'll stay at 3D load levels, and also hurt my framerate big time, because it's using up GPU resources without doing anything. Likewise if I increase the quality of the downscale filter, with just having the OBS screen open, it will also increase GPU load.

System specs in case this helps:
CPU - R7 1700
RAM - 2x8gb
GPU - R9 Fury X using the 17.8.2 drivers
OS - Windows 10
OBS version - 20.0.1, 64 bit

Thanks in advance.

p.s. I'm using the x264 encoder, but as I've said this occurs without recording

Post your OBS session log from that session.

There is no log, as I've mentioned in the OP - I don't have to record for the GPU load to increase, just having the window open is enough
Plus I've checked the debug.log file and it was last updated on August 12th, launching OBS doesn't append anything new to it.

Oh, I just noticed that aside from the settings having an effect on the GPU load, the size of the preview window also does.
Even if I disable the preview window the GPU load still stays in 3D load range and changes as mentioned in the OP.

Does the problem persist in a new scene COLLECTION with no display capture soruces in it?
