Question / Help High encoding issue out of nowhere

Recently got back into streaming last week, so I updated OBS (to 18.01). Stream was fine no issues at all.

A couple days ago I updated OBS to the newest version. Didn't change anything but the output resolution, started streaming and got the high encoding warning. I thought it might be due to the output resolution, so I changed it back to how I had it before, but that sadly didn't help. I also kept on lowering the bitrate, but weirdly enough that also didn't help, no matter how low I would go.

I then proceeded to reinstall OBS 18.01, same problem. Restarted my laptop, which at first seemed to help, but half an hour into the stream I got the high encoding warning again. I'm really not sure what the issue here is?

I'm sorry if there has been a thread like this already, but I looked around and couldn't find a solution to my specific problem.

I would first start at fixing these:

The other error messages in loading modules I am getting as well. I believe most everyone gets these and they have been around for some time now.

Those image errors are trivial to fix on the user end and are not "red herrings". I had those kind of errors today after my network server went down where my images sit. If you don't fix them, they end up adding to the "Frames missed due to rendering lag" stats and slowing down your stream,

I think I managed to fix the whole failed to load file part. Never imagined that could actually be a problem, so that's good to know.

However my high encoding problem still persists and I really don't get it. I thought it might just be the game (Quantum Break), despite it having worked last time. I went ahead and tried different games, Furi had no problem, GTAV got the warning once. I'm a completely oblivious when it comes to anything OBS or anything related to PCs tbh. Looking at the log files, I can't figure out an issue.

I'm adding the log file where I tried the different games. Maybe you can make sense of it.

Those errors you addressed are still the red herrings against your real issue in that you're running your games on your nvidia gpu while you're running obs on your intel.

Welp, I'm dumb, thought I changed it. After changing it, it's still not working though.

I'm gonna do another reinstall, maybe it'll magically work.

Alright, so I did a clean install of OBS, used the newest version. Did the auto config wizard, tweaked those settings a little because they seemed unreasonable (6000 bitrate is quite high). Made sure OBS is running on nvidia

and

it seems to be working? I'll try a proper stream I think and see if the issue arises again, but I think we're good.

Thanks everyone :)
