Hi there! I've been streaming for almost 5 years now, been all around OBS settings and all that *fun* stuff. I recently built a new rig around parts that were on sale:
i5 7600k Kaby Lake
1060 3gb Zotac
z270-p Asus Motherboard
I figured I'd be able to run a really good quality stream with my CPU but I can't manage to figure out how. When I try x264 encoding with 3500 bitrate 720p 30fps, regardless of what setting I have set for "CPU Usage", I always get an encoding error when streaming (WARNING: High Encoding!) Its not my internet, and my processor remains at low temperatures (liquid cooling) I use game capture as well to test this.
When streaming I go with NVENC H.246 encoding because its the only thing I can manage to get working and look decent, how ever it does take a toll on my GPU temperatures when playing games such as h1z1 Just Survive, PUBG, Miscreated & Dayz.
WHAT I'M ASKING: How do I stream utilizing my CPU, considering it idles at below 8% almost constantly, instead of my GPU? I strongly feel like I can run a stream in maximum settings for a non-partnered broadcaster (720p 30fps 3500 bitrate) how ever after MUCH tinkering I still can't get a crisp picture / use more of my CPU. Hopefully this wasn't too confusing, I'll be active so please respond and thanks so damn much.
