Question / Help High bitrate stream but quality is a bit junky?

Hello!

I'm not really good at this live stream encoding business but let me explain this as best as i can.

I bought my self a new i7 5820k processor and it is really good for streaming and gaming, so immediately i set my bitrate to 720 60fps 3500 bitrate x264 Fast preset stream (pictures from the settings below) and to be honest the quality is a lot better but it's not as good as some other streams that have the same settings?

Did i miss something?

This statement will be game dependent. 3500 is a lot of bitrate, but 720@60 is a lot of frames to stream as well. if your game has a lot of foliage or detailed (tessellated) textures, then expect to need more or expect to need to drop the preset more..

Medium preset is where even foliage will start to look good at your settings.

Lastly, don't expect pure perfection, even with 3500 bitrate you will have quality loss with anything below slower preset. Its just the way streaming works. your viewers will not stop watching from the occasional blur or pixellation but they will stop watching if your bitrate is set to high and you begin to buffer on their end.

Post a logfile from a streaming session. There may be other parts that need to be addressed. Screenshots aren't necessary, your logfile will contain all of your settings, as well as other information from the back end needed to diagnose and otherwise advise.

One of the first and foremost things noted from the video link is that it appears you're downscaling. For top quality, you need to play at native streaming res (so 1280x720) with no downscale. It'll look worse on your end, but better for your viewers.

Also, the 5820k should be able to do a lower preset than Fast on 720@30. Of course test, but I'd expect at least Slow would work fine with that processor (as I have one on my new rig), depending on your cooling solution and any overclocking done.

And i can go slower off course but ive heard that the quality looks pretty much the same. i need to test this ofc.

pretty big difference between fast and med tbh, that is one of the larger jumps. as for quality you cant compare quality when game and movement speed differs. even colors of complexity of scene can change what quality looks good.
