Just a simple plugin that will automatically hide icons on your desktop while streaming is active. It does the same as toggling Show desktop icons in the right-click menu on the desktop.

Hey bro, how's it going?
So, apparently there's some kind of glitch with this pluggin related to OBS crashing or something. I had problems with my stream today, OBS was constantly crashing and I noticed my icons weren't coming back after closing OBS. I've restarted my PC and they didn't come back. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks!

This is a totaly useless plugin Bro.. First of all it is a good manner to give some kind of explanation how it works. (It hides icons when you start streaming)

But it is useless because it hides them not just for viewers but for me as well. What is the point if i cant use my icons during stream if i need them.. absolute useless thing..

Thank you for trying my plugin out! I'm glad you found it useful. Sorry I didn't respond, it seems my email notifications were disabled.

I've updated the description of the plugin so hopefully it makes more sense how it works and how to fix things when it breaks.

Unfortunately, on Windows the icons have to be hidden for both the viewers and the streamer. Would it be useful to you if the icons were only hidden when a display capture source was active?

For example:

1. Start streaming → desktop icons still remain visible
2. Switch to a scene that has a Display Capture source → desktop icons are automatically hidden
3. Switch to a scene that doesn't have Display Capture, for example a scene with only Game Capture, chat and a stream overlay → icons are show again
4. Stop streaming → the icons are show (even if a Display Capture source is active)

Let me know if this is something you'd find useful, as I already have an idea on how to implement it.

What if one is recording instead of streaming?

My initial thoughts are: if you're recording, you can always cut out the part that shows your desktop icons, or re-record. But it's very simple to implement this for recording as well, so it's on my ideas board.

You can now configure the plugin to hide desktop icons only when a display capture source is visible.
A powerful addition that allows you to use your desktop icons like usual and only have them hide when a display capture source is visible (to protect your privacy!)

This can be combined with existing settings, eg. hide desktop icons when streaming and a display capture source is visible...
