I’d really appreciate some info!!!
I’m really depressed over my live stream experiences. I don’t know computers really well, and to not live stream on my phone I bought a MacBook Pro thinking that would save the world. But I bought a 2012. I put SSDs in and changed the ram.
I LOVE obs but when ever I go live to FB it essentially crashes the browser and the computer goes to a snails pace. I’m using basically the FB recommended settings.

I live in a high density apartment area and we only have availability to Spectrum cable. The performance is all over the place. I should get 4000mbps/20 up but again, Friday nights when I live stream, it dips down to 20mbps down.

should I get a windows machine?? What’s the cheapest great machine I could get?
I’m really bummed over all this. I’ve put a ton of work into trying phone-web-can solutions etc etc.
I have an awesome Canon camera and a CamLink.
PLEASE HELP ME SMART PEOPE!!!

What browser crashes? Is it the browser you initiate the livestream in? On a mac that old, you probably shouldn't play the stream that you are sending up from OBS in a browser on the same system. Once you start streaming, you can pause the video playback in the browser. You can even close the browser if you don't need the comments (or you can mange the comments in another device.) On some FB accounts you can schedule a live stream (that may be business accounts, not sure) and you don't even need a browser running.

You generally should post a log file so people can see what problems you are having.

I'm a long time mac user but I will tell you that you'll be much happier with OBS on the average PC vs on the average mac. I've had pretty good results on a Mac Pro and fair results on an i7 MBP but OBS performs much better on a PC. I broke down and bought my first windows machine in nearly 2 decades just to run it. I bought a used HP Book with an i7, 32g ram, an SSD and an nvidia video system for $275 on Ebay. Look for something like that.

Oh wow that is excellent advice!! Thank you! You totally saw into the problem. I WAS playing the stream on a browser on the same computer basically so I could read the comments. I had been trying with Chrome but that seemed to really choke and Safari seemed better but then in peak hours my internet just can’t seem to handle anything!
That’s why I didn’t post a log sorry, if I did it NOW, it would look kinda decent and work fine, but friday night when everyone in the apartments around me is home, it’s like I’m on a 56k modem!
Thanks for the windows idea - wow, I am totally a Mac guy so I can’t believe those are that cheap! That’s very good news! Thanks again!

Are you doing full HD, multi scene stuff? Any way I could see??? It’s kinda funny there don’t seem to be any OBS galleries out there (!)
Thanks
Joel
Typo. HP zBook. I do complex scene collections with chroma, animations, 25-40 scenes; lots of scenes within scenes, 1920x1080 camera feeds/pallete/output.

I use it for shows like this https://rb.gy/syomx3. This has about 40 scenes, chroma, etc.
