I tried doing a reaction video but I'm not sure that I went about it in the best way. Since I can't hear vlc in obs I watched the video and recorded only the webcam and then I combined the webcam with the video. But no fast forward and no sound meant that I had to give myself a signal in the webcam video at what point I should add the video I reacted to when combining them. Even then, when using the eye thing to make the video visible It took about a second to appear so sometimes I react to stuff that's going to appear a second later and the whole thing feels wrong. Is there a better way to do this?

You should be able to hear VLC. If in studio mode be sure VLC is playing in the Program screen, Click the gear icon in the mixer . click Advanced Audio Properties , under audio monitoring for VLC select Monitor & output.

Just having sound isn't going to help me. That way I'll have to look at a tiny screen and It'll be hard to see the subtitles. It would be cool if there was like a way for me to hit a button which would start recording the sound of vlc from obs and the small vlc screen but at the same time would start playing the actual vlc without sound in regular size. Otherwise I would have to try to quickly hit start on one of them, switch windows and hit start on the other one and it would be out of sync.

I did not mean that you needed to run it in studio mode. but ( if ) you were in studio mode the vlc scene needs to be in the Program window to be able to edit the audio properties.

I get how I can hear the audio. My problem is how to sync it. I either need to run two programs at once or make two recordings, the first one without audio output. Neither of these options seem efficient and I wanted to know if there's a better way to go about it. If there isn't one, I'll have to bear with doing it in one of these ways.
