We just installed a new computer that we use to stream our weekly service. The last computer also streamed but it was slow and sometimes choppy. Both use OBS software. The new computer is and i7 with 16G of memory and is very fast. It also has a 4G video card so it will do what we want with power to burn!
We record/view our service on a camcorder with an HDMI output that goes to an external video capture box that plugs in to a UB3 port. We input our sound directly into the camcorder from our sound board so the source is always very good quality and has lots of volume. As mentioned before, this worked fine on the old system.
The problem we have is with the new system. The video works great without chop but the sound is either not there or it was echoing. I have tried playing with the settings and duplicating the old setup settings but no luck yet. I would like some help with setting up the sound so it gets out to our streaming properly. I am not using the computer in question but I have spent so much time on it that I can remember all of the settings! Here is what I am asking about.
Camcorder and HDMI to USB3 converter is our Video Capture device. Under settings for the camera, what Audio Output Mode is recommended? I can output desktop audio in 2 formats or capture audio only. My guess is capture audio only. I can also use a custom audio device which in this case is the HDMI video capture box. I believe that was what we did on the old computer. So our settings are Capture Audio Only and send it out through the Custom Audio Device HDMI VCC.
Under the Audio Mixer Settings I have many options. Desktop Audio, Video Capture Device (VCD) and many different Aux/Mic setups. I suspect it should be our VCD at this point. We only need the sound to go to streaming, nothing else. What should Audio Monitoring be set to? My thinking is Monitor and Output for the VCD and Monitor Off for everything else. Also, do I need to increase the volume on the channel I use. The old version of OBS had a volume setting of up to 100% but this uses db so I don't know if this is a gain setting to add more volume or not.
Lastly, under the main Settings, Audio, how should the devices be set. Again, my guess would be VCD as default and the rest disabled but this may be part of the problem.
When I hooked everything up initially we had no sound on our streaming. Tried many different settings and still nothing. Finally got sound on one of the settings but it was echoing on the stream so basically unusable. I have tried multiple combinations of all settings with no luck yet so I figured somebody on here would probably know the answers to help me solve this. I am testing each "settings" by recording only at this point. I am using a program called VCD or something like that to view it.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
