Hello OBS forum,

i just wanted a bit of help regarding the settings i should use for streaming games like LoL, CSGO, and other games as well. My first question is why do i experience a sudden fps drop when im streaming LoL or CSGO? These are my specs

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-de...d-drive-black-red/8448199.p?id=1219334567161&

And my upload is about 5 mps.

My second question is what type of internet do i need to upgrade to to get a higher upload speed?

Thanks for any help!

720p@30fps, 2000kbps, x264 Veryfast.

Real-time video encoding uses a lot of CPU. There will be a noticeable impact on in-game performance, but not enough to render it realistically unplayable.

If you're streaming to Twitch and are not a Partner, it is advised not to exceed 2000kbps, which your 5mbps upload should be able to handle fine (as long as you aren't streaming over wifi). Going past this will make more and more potential viewers buffer, even just 2500kbps will cause a significant increase. 3500 will lock a majority of viewers into buffering hell. And new viewers generally won't mention anything if they buffer a lot... they'll just silently leave for another channel that they can watch smoothly.

Thank you! i just changed my bitrate to 2000 since it was at 2500. Is it bad to change the priority of my apps such as league?

Generally you want to leave them set to default priority. I normally set OBS to Above Normal to ensure smooth video streaming (to minimize/eliminate duped and late frames), but it isn't necessary.

Definitely do NOT set your games to High or Real-time; it can cause significant problems. I'd recommend leaving them on Normal.
